MOST MEMORABLE VACATION EVER
NO WORRIES…RELAX ON THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACH
It is the perfect size and layout for two couples or a small family. You can retreat to your room at night for more privacy or hang out in the living area, either way, you always feel comfortable. Although there is modern air conditioning throughout, there is almost no need for it as the cross ventilation provided by the many windows and screen doors is exquisite.
Eleuthera is this hidden gem that seemed to have dodged the extreme hotel chains development sprawl of the last few decades in the Caribbeans. The beaches are absolutely beautiful. Although there are many, many beaches that you can go to, French leave, located at about 10 min. walk, is all you need.
Some people rent a car for the entire week but we opted not to. Walk back from the liquor store with a case of beer uphill was really the only challenge that is worth mentioning. Even then, locals would stop and offer to give a ride.
The beach house (bar restaurant) at the south end of French leave beach is the perfect hangout to get a little rest from the sun while throwing back a few cold ones.
If what you’re craving is privacy and majestic relaxing time close to what is probably ranking among the most beautiful beaches in the world (French leave), Eleuthera and this house in particular could be the remedy.
Good times with good friends…

Tops was wonderful! All the amenities were top notch. Brand new! Kathy and Bob were so friendly to greet us upon our arrival. Kathy was a lifesaver providing us with a welcome lasagne dinner and wine after our long travel day. This year’s trip took us south to Ocean Hole near Rock Sound and further south to the tip of Eleuthera to Light House Beach. Beautiful scenery and beach. Don’t forget to drop into the Rock Sound Market on your way back to Tops. They have a little bit more variety for groceries than the stores in Governor’s.
Of Governor’s Harbour is a beautiful town with everything you need to make your stay relaxing and comfortable.
We were able to enjoy the pool at Tops while cooking our dinner on the bbq. The kitchen at Tops was very functional and had brand new stainless appliances including a dishwasher. Not all meals were taken at Tops. we enjoyed a couple of dinner’s at Tippy’s too.
Just before you get to Tippy’s on the Banks Road there is the Levy Nature Preserve. It is a lovely garden with walking trails to Ethan’s Tower where you have a beautiful view of the landscape and the Atlantic. Kids will love seeing the turtles and lizards there.
Kathy and Bob will help you arrange a rental suv for your stay.
All in all, Tops was tops!

Tops was perfect for my husband and I and our four year old son. It had everything we needed. Tops first hand, equally matches the photo’s we viewed of it online, stylish, chic and spacious and in a quiet, peaceful residential area just minutes on foot, from the town. Kathy the owner was very helpful and lives just up the road. We arrived early evening and Kathy had kindly left us a homemade lasagne, a bottle of wine and some local beers. Just what we needed after a long day of travelling. We also had access to Kathy’s herb garden, my husband is a keen cook, so for him that was great. The beaches on Eluthera, both the Atlantic side and the Caribbean side are some of the best I have come across. On the Atlantic side the sea is perfect turquoise with the most luxurious ‘pink’ sand. On the Caribbean side the sea is still, perfectly clear and shallow, great for our four year old and the sand is white. Hire a 4 wheel drive so you can go off road where you will come across deserted beaches. For the first 4 days of our trip we literally thought we were the only family on the island that was until we ate at Tippy’s along ‘French Leave’ beach and discovered there was in fact other families on the island, when I say other families approx 6. You will never come across a crowded beach on Elutherea. We also ate at ‘The Beach House’ again along French Leave beach. Both Tippy’s and The beach House serve good food and you can pay by credit card at Tippy’s. You must do a trip to Harbour Island. You drive approx one hour to the top of Eluthera and catch a water taxi across to Harbour Island which takes approx 5 mins and cost us $5 per adult. Once there you hire a golf buggy. It was Sunday when we went and found we had to ask around in order to get a golf buggy but we managed to and paid $40 for the day. Great way to see the island. Coral Sands hotel on the beach is a lovely place to have lunch and cocktails and isn’t at all pricey. So all in all we had a most relaxing vacation thanks to the wonderful beaches and knowing each day we were going back to such a great house. Thank you again Kathy and hope to visit again one day.
Tops is splendid! Thanks Kathy & Bob…

Kathy and Bob Coleman’s hospitality is the best. We felt at home the moment we arrived when Kathy greeted us. Tops is pristine. I enjoy Kathy’s decorating taste, such as white floors & walls, easy drapes, Roman shades, percale sheets, color schemes – very relaxing with good energy offering both privacy and serenity – watching the sun rise, gazing deeply into the night sky sans light pollution, listening to winds rush through the palms. Beautiful landscaping!
Victor from Big E’s car rental waited patiently for us while our flight was delayed. He escorted us to Tops while I drove on the left side of the road. Imagine flying into E late, having to take a long drive on an unlighted road with no GPS or road maps, while trying to locate a rental home on some back road that appears untraveled.
We walked the beaches, drove, and explored the jungle on 5-foot wide, old coral-gouged and sand roads, such as old Banks Road, with our AWD Honda. The island being an ancient coral reef has diverse vegetation – cactii, tropical shrubs, palms. Some of the centuries old pine trees near the library have three-foot girths. The beaches on the Atlantic side are just what we anticipated, viewed in photos, and read about: clear turquoise water. The sand? pale pink powder. Favorite beaches to swim were French Leave and Twin Cove. Double Bay, Savannah Sound, and the coral Carribean side were breathtaking. We only ran into a couple of people on the beach all day – the same ones from the days before! Nice and private in E – not touristy – no hotels – high rises, etc. Yet, we met several interesting individuals, both travelers and residents! The international Film Festival was going on.
We enjoyed Governor’s Harbor and staying at Tops was convenient for walking to the center, the library, harbor, Buccaneer, and the beach. We went to Harbor Island and ate at SipSip with its beach view similar to the Beach House and Tippy’s. The water taxi was fun. We prefer French Leave Beach to the one on Briland (too many people).
We appreciate the assistance, guidance and referrals that Julianna and Tara, Eleuthera Vacation Rentals staff, provided to us. It gave us the confidence to make this trip. Will we return? No question, except when? While touring E north & south, we saw most of the rentals we viewed on homeaway.com. None was as perfect for us as Tops is and we are glad we chose this home to enjoy while in Eleuthera.
