This week the Colmans are in the land of plenty – otherwise known as the US. We are staying – as usual in Fort Lauderdale in the Hyatt Centric on Las Olas Blvd. This is very central for most of what we need to do.
It is a trip for check-ups and such like. We both had a treatment from our chiropractor Dr David Steiner. Bob knew his lower back was out so it was a big relief for him to get it adjusted. I didn’t have an appointment but Dr Steiner always suggests a maintenance check up. My lower back was fine but he adjusted my neck and shoulder which has helped….

Then a quick trip to the Aventura Mall – which is brilliant ! The Apple store made me an appointment for that late afternoon at the Galleria Mall Apple Store to get a new battery installed in my iPhone – although it is a ’12’ – five years old – there was nothing wrong with it apart from the fact that it didn’t hold a charge for very long. The replacement battery cost under $100 including tax – a considerable saving on having to buy a complete new phone.
The service at the Apple stores is fantastic – I have written about it before – and we so appreciate the Geniuses who serve us. Bob bought a new phone as his was pretty dodgy – and they got that all set up – he traded his old one in which was a nice touch – now all we have to do is get an eSim through BTC when we get back on island.
By the way I did look up what the plural of genius is – either geniuses which is most commonly used – or genii – the Latin based plural – don’t ever say I don’t think about what you may be thinking !!!
I had a check up with the eye surgeon and booked to have my first cataract operation in 6 weeks – can’t wait !
Bob had to have a skin cancer removed from the side of his forehead – we use ZRoc Dermatology in Ft Lauderdale. It was a much lengthier process that we thought and involved plenty of stitching up afterwards. But it is done now and we just need him to heal well . The stitches will be taken out at Bahamas Wellness after we get back.

We managed to meet up with our good friends Ashley and Jilly from the UK for lunch after the MOHS surgery. We were late but still managed to have a lovely time with them. This was our only opportunity to see them as they flew back to London the following day. We were so busy catching up and talking that we totally forgot to take any pictures at all – but the memory of spending time with them is what really matters – right ?
While we were away I set myself the task of going through my contacts list and deleting all the names I didn’t recognize. A lot of them were from the days of when we had the vacation rental houses and apartments. I reduced the number from over 1700 to around 950 – it was a job that got done because there was a lot of waiting around – in the airport, on the flight, during medical appointments – you know what it’s like. A great job done and I never would sit and do it at home because there are always too many other things to do…. Next I need to make a start on my photos. Too often I take 6 or 8 pictures to make sure that there is one decent one – and then I never get around to deleting all the other ones.
And so dear readers you may notice there is only one photograph from the US with any food in it – Bob at breakfast in the hotel. That is because at the time of writing this there has not been any food of note – and if it is not that good then I prefer to say nothing rather than give a bad review. But we still have a couple of days to go so there may be something for next week.

Before we left we had a great lunch at Bacchus Fine Foods with Molly and Polly and Dan and Larry . I had the crab cakes which are a great favorite of mine. The food was lovely and the company was great – and the day was beautiful !

I am attaching below a flyer for Monique Carroll who as you teaches yoga and gives Reiki treatments. These are just two of her talents – have a look and see the range of skills that she has and make an appointment with her for whatever it is that you need. As I have said before Bob and I are both great fans of what she does and highly recommend her……

Okay – that’s all for now – a couple more check ups and the dentist for Bob – maintenance gets worse as you get older so make sure you appreciate your health and strength and fitness while you have it !
Take good care and have an enjoyable weekend. Appreciate what is good for you to enjoy that you may be taking for granted……
