Into April already – Happy Easter

Goodness – here we are in April already – and Happy Easter for those of you who celebrate and a joyous Passover for those who celebrate that.

The island seems very busy for the Easter Holiday – the queue at the Island Farm was huge on Tuesday – seemed like everybody wanted the cinnamon buns and sticky buns as well as the fabulous selection of breads ….. Rental properties are full and car rentals are very busy. All good for the island economy.

We enjoyed a lovely early dinner on Monday with good friends John and Judy who are down here every year for a few weeks. They used to rent from us when we had our vacation rentals and they spent a few months here six years ago when we were all in lockdown because of Covid. We met at the Buccaneer and had a really good time. Bob and John both had the sweet and sour chicken and Judy and I both had shrimp curry.

You have to admit – they do look like a couple of people that you could really have fun with – and we do !

I write a lot about the wonderful lift you get from being with good friends – the kind where you don’t speak for ages but then when you do meet you just pick up where you left off. Well that’s how it is with John and Judy ……

Lockdown seems a long way off now – but I was re-reading some of my blogs from that time and it bought it right back !

When it’s just you and your dog ……. and you’re in lockdown !
Glorious frangipani in bloom…..

Bob and I went to Bacchus Fine Foods on Sunday for lunch. I had the crab cake benedict from the brunch menu and Bob had a beautiful shrimp dish – it was shrimps in a tomato sauce with feta cheese and garlic – of course I had to taste it so I could report back to you all – yeh right ! – and I can tell you I will be ordering that next time around. Unfortunately the name of it escapes me but there is only the one shrimp dish on the brunch menu so it shouldn’t be hard to track down .

The shrimp and tomato dish that I can’t remember the name of – sorry ….

I did take a picture of my crab cake benedict but I had ruined the look of it because of course I had already taken a big chunk out of it !

The Jewel is coming along really well – the tiles we have been waiting for to finish the second bathroom are due in over the weekend but sadly the countertops didn’t make it in time – so they will be another week. Also on the boat should be the glass shower screens and mirrors – fingers crossed.

We have the new bed assembled in the master suite and the showers and toilet have been fitted in the master bathroom. I have started moving boxes of kitchen stuff in – un packed and ready to go in the drawers when the countertops are on. We have had some of the outside painting done – but the last couple of days have brought a lot of rain showers so that keeps on being interrupted . We are very fortunate that we can take our time with the move.

One done – the taupe colored one and one still to go . So happy with the painted finish on the stool – there are more chairs and tables to follow

Our storage unit – or as I like to call it,  my own personal thrift store  -in Palmetto Point is looking quite bare now – still a good few boxes of stuff but all the big stuff is out now – so next week I am hoping to have a good sort out and see what’s what.

Okay dear friends – that’s about it for this week – have an enjoyable long weekend – whether it is seeing friends and family or taking a well earned rest do enjoy yourselves …..

See you next week.

The picture below and as the header is of the entrance to Wykee Estae on the Caribbean side. This lifts my heart every time I am returning home – that gentle slope down to the boat ramp is such a glorious sight on a sunny day……
