Yes dear readers there has been plenty going on in Eleuthera this past week. Firstly there was a national election in the Bahamas – the current government was returned with a landslide victory. This is the first second term administration since 1997 in the Bahamas – and hopefully it will bring continuity which is much needed. A change of government party can bring a great deal of unnecessary changes so let’s all hope for the best.

General elections here are always contentious with families being split over the politics – but as I always say – we all have to get up the next morning, go to work and carry on with our lives – so to allow differences to cause sometimes huge rifts is pointless. What the world needs at the moment is more tolerance and believing that although we may not agree on everything there is still room to get along.

Okay that’s enough about politics for now.

There was a big outcry when it was discovered that a 130 ft tower for Cable Bahamas was being erected on the Banks Road. There had been no notice of this at all and it would have caused a great deal of upset to homeowners along the road.  It would have been visible from the beach and overlooked a lot of properties. Anyway long story short it was stopped mid construction and a new site has to be found for it. There was a petition signed by many people which may have played a part in the drama – who knows – but when things like this happen without any public knowledge it shows yet again that communication and openness are vitally important….

In other news Awesome Kitchen Supplies have moved from Bet’s Plaza up to Queens Highway – pretty close to Office General. They have much more space there and are able to stock a lot more.

A wall full of gadgets and utensils …..

Do stop and take a look when you are driving by – you can see things that you never knew you needed !!

Larry’s lovely table setting …..

Okay so dinner with Dan and Larry last week on Cupid’s Cay. The table looked beautiful – Larry does a wonderful job. The food was really great. There was an orecchiette pasta with shrimp – absolutely lovely and a very tasty watermelon and feta cheese salad. Desert was a delicious cake – what sort ? with ice cream – but as my grandmother would say – I’ve been to bed since then and can’t remember !! It was a great evening – we met a lovely lady called Sarah who now lives in Rainbow Bay and it was really pleasant getting to know her a little……

Such a lovely looking and tasting plateful …..

Dan and Larry are such great hosts as anybody who knows them can attest to – it was a pleasure being on the Cay.

We had a lovely gathering at the table…..

No blog next week as we will be in Florida for my second eye surgery…….

Have a great weekend and we wish all our US readers a happy Memorial Day on May 25th and our Bahamian readers a happy Whit Monday on the same day…..

Thanks Ray for taking a picture with me at the table !
How could I forget the picture of Dan’s dessert !
