Well maybe not unseasonably – it is February after all but we have had extremely chilly weather for the Bahamas. Temperatures went down to 60 F or 15 C but there was a very strong westerly wind which made it feel much colder.
It was sad to see many people in Tippy’s on Sunday lunchtime wearing as many layers of clothing as they had – and mainly just thin jackets. When you come on vacation here most people don’t pack warm clothing as they are expecting it to be warm – if not hot at this time of year.

It was the tail end of the weather front that swept south through the US bringing extremely high seas as well as very strong winds and chill ! The tides were exceptionally high with the full moon on February 1st. The snow moon has been beautiful on my evening walks with Rudge with very clear skies preceded with some spectacular sunsets which we really enjoy on this side of the island.
We warmed up at Tippy’s with a couple of their veggie burgers – they have the Beyond Burgers brand which are really good.

We were there on Wednesday night as well – with friends Justin and Lindy – and for the third time since Sunday bumped into a group of 26 people all staying here to celebrate the 50th birthday of the lovely Angel – wife of the very friendly Miles. We first chatted with them at The Potlatch Club the previous Sunday lunchtime, then on Monday night at The Buccaneer, then that night at Tippy’s. They certainly knew how to celebrate and have fun …. Thanks to Steve Sweet – in their party – who took a picture of me with Miles and Angel. Hopefully they had such a good time that they may come back.

We enjoyed another great lunch with great friends Martin and Marcie at Potlatch this week – another one of those occasions when we had such a good time that I forgot to take any pictures….. But I take it as a good sign that we were so in the moment that pictures would have been an intrusion – well that’s my excuse anyway !
Are you into Super Bowl ? personally I’m not but I do want to tell you about where you can watch it this Sunday …. Go to Pineapple Players Lounge – just before Highway Service Station in Governors Harbor and right next to the cinema. Phil is having a huge screen inside the lounge and a large inflatable screen outside to show the game and all the shenanigans that go with it. Of course they will be doing food as well and you can book tables if you want to. Call them on 242-813-7172 and tell them Kathy told you !!

Another event is on Tuesday morning at The Haynes Library so Tuesday 10th February – it is a movie morning and pajama party. Sounds like a fun morning …… I did check and it is for adults. See the flyer below for details…..

Okay – I think that’s all the news for now . Have a good weekend – stay warm and safe wherever you and drop a little kindness where you can….
