Wishing you all dear readers a very Happy New Year. I am sure that for pretty much all of you there have been good times as well as difficult times during 2025.

I remember writing on Instagram on December 31st 2019 that there would of course be good times as well as bad times in 2020 as there always are. Little did I know that Covid was waiting for us that coming year – that was a very difficult time.

This past year has been one of quite a lot of change for the Colmans. We sold Sprawling Towers and bought 2 smaller houses that needed renovating – being without a permanent base for more than 4 months was a big strain – and having everything packed up and in storage was not easy. We have a large storage unit in Palmetto Point that I now refer to as our own personal thrift shop ! And I often go there to shop it …. Finding what I am looking for is a hit and miss affair but I often find treasure that I wasn’t looking for so that makes up for it.

The trip we took to the UK in November was a huge treat for us – seeing children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was a boost that we needed, even though the weather was very cold. Now we have taken a vow not to travel to the UK any later than September as the cold is very debilitating and depressing for Bob.

Throughout the year we have eaten some fabulous food , laughed with good friends and family and shed a few tears….. Just like everybody does – and we have eaten some rubbish food, worried over all sorts of things and had terrible sleepless nights.

But here we are on New Years Eve, still standing , still smiling and so thankful for all the blessings we have in life.

Here’s hoping that whatever has been happening for you this year that you can still muster a smile and count your blessings.

As I said in 2019 – we wish you the grace and wisdom to enjoy the good times and the courage and resilience to weather the bad times. Be kind to each other whenever you can and spread a little love wherever you can.

Happy New Year to you all xxxx

Loved these Christmas tree napkins at the Potlatch Club on Christmas night …

My squid ink seafood pasta was really tasty
Ooooh – creme brûlée and ice cream
Brian is my relaxation guru – she can make herself comfortable spread across 2 separate pieces of furniture !

  1. Our pristine snow blanket here last night reiterates your mantra of new beginnings. A moment of peace (?). We agree with you! : The cold is hellish on our aging bodies. But the warmth and love of our family and friends as we enjoy each other’s company provide solace and joy. Thanks for the pic. You know what I mean. =^-^= All the best of everything going forward. Cheers.

  2. Enjoy your blog so much !
I think the following little verse fits in with your blog today.

    2026……….a blank page.
    – a chance to breathe
    – a chance to reset
    – a chance to be kinder to ourselves
    – a chance to find renewed strength for you and Bob
    to meet your challenges ahead
May 2026 be good to you both !
