Well here we are across the pond in the UK having lovely time…. This week’s blog is going to mainly be a photo diary as I have taken a load of pictures as you can imagine !
Above we are enjoying a lovely breakfast with Bob’s daughter Sami – so lovely to just spend some simple everyday time with her….. She and Billy her husband live in Chiswick – West London – where we stayed in a very friendly and charming hotel – an absolutely ideal location for us to be able to walk everywhere or even hop on a bus !
And I had scrambled eggs with beautiful smoked salmon
The first meal we ate in London was of course fish and chips – oh how we enjoyed it !
We loved this little terrace of charming houses close to our hotel – of course they sell for around a million pounds each now !
I was thrilled when Cece went on to bring me her large collection of soft toys – very honored !
A couple of days after arriving Bob and I went to great French Bistro for lunch and even though the weather has been really warm we both had French onion soup and then shared a portion of modules et frites – so good !
We had a family lunch on Saturday with granddaughter Sophie – it was a real treat to see both her apartment as well as Gen, James and Cece’s . Now when we are back in Eleuthera we can know exactly where they are in their own homes.
The weather has really picked up and is glorious at the moment, so when we met Cassius, Indi, Vivi and Alba for lunch at Coal Drops Yard – a regenerated area behind King’s Cross station – I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures of a joyous big group of kids of all ages playing in the water features …. They were having an absolutely great time ….
Now take a look at how our other grandchildren have grown
After the lunch we met up with Sami and Billy and went to a sensational showing of the work by David Hockney at Lightroom. It is an immersive show using all 4 walls of the space as well as the floor to project a brilliantly choreographed collection of his work – described in his own words. I can’t really find the words to describe the experience as it was so special…..
And so dear friends that is all for this week. We had a very special time with Joel and our grandson Ethan but I am having trouble with the pictures which hopefully I can post on the next blog …..
Plenty more food to come of course .
We are savoring the time we are spending with friends and family and I hope that you do too…. Waving from across the pond !

It’s 6am here across the pond when your blog notice appeared. Always up early on these hot, humid days. You portray many mouth watering dishes. The fish is SO long. And the Guinness. Oh my. That’s HUGE. And the red egg yolks that are uncommon in USA due to what hens are fed! Looking forward to more photos. Nice to be with family and observe the changes in them and their lives. We returned yesterday from a brief junket in Saratoga Springs where we met friends and dined in the finest. Returning home, you always appreciate your own digs despite acclaims of pillotop mattresses and pricey linens!
Thank you Donna – it’s true – I haven’t come across a bed and pillows nearly as good as ours ! xx
Lovely blog of your fanily and how you are enjoying them and London .Need a family tree now! Useful recommendations and places to eat and see. My son, Nicholas (26), lives near Tooting, west London. I’ll pass this on to him. Are you and Bob English?
Yes Bob – we are both English but have lived in Eleuthera for 20 years !
I am looking forward to my visit to London from Devon later this month to join sister Susan Roberts and her daughter Shevaun and to enjoy meals in places you have mentioned. Your photos are mouth wateringly wonderful. Enjoy the rest of your stay Kathy .
Thank you Midge – we are having a lovely time !

Thank you – the variety of food is just fabulous !
Dear Kathy and Bob,
I hesitate to write, as I do not want to take time from your trip. I must say, this was the best! I just love all the photos. Now I know who everyone is ! I love the photos of England! They make me homesick. Of course, you are eating well. I would be so disappointed if you weren’t.
Great trip! You guys!
