Hello dear readers and yet another report of more rainy weather here in Eleuthera. I know it is just what the island needs but when you are doing major renovations inside and out then it is not really what you are hoping for.  See the picture at the top of the post !!

The work at Wykee is coming on well and we are on a countdown to move in by the end of this month……

The inside should be pretty much finished but the outside will take longer – we can live with that.

Great news is that Stephanie has reopened Sweet and Savory – her food truck just north of Governors Harbour.

Looking great – The Sweet and Savory Truck Stop !

It is lovely to have the option of another place for lunch and we took advantage of that and enjoyed a shrimp rice bowl which Bob and I shared. It is delicious and comes with back beans and sweetcorn as well a a great dressing and huge amounts of shrimp. Of course I forgot to take a picture – next time eh ?

Stephanie and her assistant serving up all sorts of deliciousness inside the truck.

The area around the food truck had a lot of bush growing back – Stephanie said that nature was trying to reclaim it – it certainly was. But a few good chaps with machetes made short work of it and now the truck sits proudly in the well cleared site.

Other very welcome news is that The Cove reopens on Friday 17th October – yippee ! We will be there on Sunday for lunch with a full report coming next week.

The next place will be 1648 Bar and Grill which I have reliably been told reopens on October 27th – bring it on ……

In the midst of it all a beautiful sunny day at French Leave Beach. The waves were a bit rough but we have managed to get in the water for a flounder one day earlier in the week …

There is very little for me to write about this week so I have decided to give you some pictures of the house renovation that we are busy trying to finish ……

So first the saga of the fridge housing. Personally I don’t like fridge without a nice housing around it – but they are always a pain in the butt to do and Bob does not enjoy my demands – however here is a series of 3 pictures getting it how I like it !!

Initial stage
Intermediate stage
And nearly finished – thank you Bob for humoring me ! The microwave will sit in the full height cabinet next to the fridge
This is the new entrance area – this was the outside before Bob Colman got hold of it and the sliding doors were where you now see two nice openings  ….
The small opening to the right will have bookshelves and be a little reading area
Beautifully neat new breaker box – we do appreciate a bit of neat wiring
This will be an all white kitchen – the units still have their protective coat on – white countertops as well

The floors all have to be sanded before they are painted. Fingers crossed the sanders arrive on this week’s boat ….

And so on we go. Every day brings more dust from all the sanding – thankfully the 2 new sanders have dust bags and one will connect to the vacuum cleaner…..

Have a great weekend everybody and give thanks if you are not drowning in a sea of dust !!!!
