Christmas is Coming in Eleuthera – fast !

Christmas is coming in Eleuthera – and fast ! This week I have been putting out our Christmas decorations which always takes longer than you think it will – right ?

These days at Sprawling Towers we have done away with the inflatables that we used to love having when we lived at Buena Vista. Two years ago we donated them to the police force here for all the locals to enjoy and we are quite happy living without them. It was fun when we kept adding to them year after year and I am putting in a few pictures from earlier Christmases .

This was the last one we bought and I did really love it – it had a fleecy back !
This was another favorite
Getting a bit carried away by this stage ….
This was the Christmas tree at The Potlatch Club – looks lovely

We enjoyed a lovely lunch on Sunday at The Potlatch Club – Bob had his favorite burger and I had a really tasty dish of  shrimp in a tomato but slightly spicy sauce served on toasted sourdough bread – it was absolutely delicious.

Sorry I can’t remember what this is called but it is in the lunchtime menu appetizer section – gambas something !
and a tasty little side salad – just trying to impress Robynne !

While we were there a lovely lady called Robynne introduced herself to us – she is a blog reader – hello Robynne ! – and I want to tell you what a delight it is when readers of the blog do say hello. We finished up having a great chat and also meeting her 89 year old father and her friend. It was a lovely interlude so please do feel free to introduce yourselves to me – honestly it is never an intrusion ……

This weekend – on Saturday we will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and on the same day we celebrate 20 years of living permanently in Eleuthera. It is lovely to celebrate these two occasions together and to look back over the 20 years we have been here. So maybe a little trip down memory lane …….

30 years ago – they have flown….. Chelsea Registry Office in London

And so dear friends – have a good weekend – and don’t get caught up in the crazy rush leading up to Christmas – do it at your own pace to the standard that is realistic for you …..

P.S. Our boys (now grown men) used to LOVE those inflatables whenever we spotted them at your former residence. I’m sure they are getting lots of love these days at the police station down the hill.

Hi Ann – that is so good to hear that your boys loved the inflatables ! And great to hear you are still following the blog !

  6. My goodness! Someone who has not been to Potlatch since 1975. That makes me feel very good. We went from years at Potlatch to the Windermere Island Club in the 90’s!
You guys are great! Merry Christmas! and Happy Anniversary!

  7. Kathy, such a treat to have met you at the gorgeous Potlatch Club last week. And you are so kind to have taken the time to chat with my father – he so appreciated reminiscing about his time in the UK and his cricket days with you and Bob. Happy anniversary and have a wonderful holiday season.
