Five things I can’t live without !

Well actually I hate that title because in fact there is nothing in this series of posts that I truly can’t live without but they are five things that enhance my life a lot…..

One of the things about living here full time is that it teaches you to REALLY appreciate the things that you can get and to value how precious the everyday things in life can be

1 San Pellegrino sparkling water ….

I always say that when I discovered that I could buy it here in Eleuthera that was when I knew I could live here. I buy it from Bristol Wines on Cupid’s Cay who incidentally have a great selection of wines as well……..

2   Vanilla scented candles – Ikea sell them and I stock up on them every time I visit Fort Lauderdale .

I have them in every room – over here in the Bahamas the high levels of humidity mean that rooms in our old house can sometimes smell a little fusty – this keeps them fresh and sweet smelling as well as being ready for the occasional power outages.

3 Natural linen – both as a fabric for soft furnishings as well as a paint colour. The floors upstairs in both the Yellow House and Sweetcorn House are painted this colour and the bedrooms in the Yellow House have slipcovers in the fabric.

4   The perfume I have worn exclusively for the last 25 years – Mitsouko by Guerlain – it is my perfume identity – I never ever tire of it – morning or night – winter or summer – it is a constant.

5 Air conditioning ! – God bless you Willis Carrier – he invented it in 1902 – and I often thank him during the summer months here when I turn it on and feel that delicious cool air bringing the temperature down….
