The Colmans are in the land of plenty !

Yes dear readers – the Colmans are in the land of plenty this week ….

Here in Fort Lauderdale getting lots of stuff done and eating very well you may be surprised to hear.

We both were treated by our wonderful chiropractor Dr David Steiner. Bob’s back had been out for a good few months so he was very relieved to get an adjustment on Monday . I had X-rays which were overdue and a couple of adjustments – movers shoulders I called it. All that lifting and shifting and carting stuff about had taken a toll but a treatment has definitely helped.

We both saw the dentist Dr Stone who we have been seeing for a good few years now and I have a referral to a periodontist as I have some receding gum issues. Oh the joys of aging !

I managed to dissuade Bob from buying these !!!

We had a great visit to Aventura Mall which we haven’t been to in a couple of years. The Apple store there is fabulous – Bob had lost one of his AirPods and I was shocked to discover that you can buy a replacement one – who knew ? Plus we bought a new pair so that he now has 2 sets. The expertise and help that the staff there give you is amazing and we really enjoyed the time we spent there. I really don’t know of any other company that has such a great follow up service. It is not just about what are you buying today – it genuinely is about getting the best from what you already have. The expertise and knowledge of the young people who work there is fantastic.

Such a lovely place – The Apple Store in Aventura Mall
We both love the design and style of this place

Now on to the food of course…..

We enjoyed a great meal at Siam House Thai Restaurant on SE 17th St in Ft Lauderdale.  Bob had pad thai and I had a delicious fairly mild shrimp curry. We chatted with a couple of ladies – Donna and Tracey –  who were celebrating Donna’s birthday. Su Nan was our very glamorous waitress and we got Bob to take a few pictures  I think that maybe the kitchen had used a little too much MSG in our food as we both had a very bad night’s sleep – my heart was pounding and I felt very jittery. Next time I will say no MSG at all please.

We also ate at Morton’s Steakhouse so Bob could enjoy a good steak – and I had a Maine lobster ravioli which was delicious. As so often happens I got stuck in and it was only after we finished eating that I realized I had forgotten to take any pictures. All I got was half of the loaf of bread that they bring before the food ……

Oh those shrimp ….

We dined at The Surf Club restaurant one evening – we took an Uber there so that I could enjoy a drink and not have to worry about driving. It is a proper fine dining experience and not one that you would want to do too often and incidentally the people watching there is second to none !!!

Freshly shaved truffle on my tagliatelle

Anyway – we shared a Gulf shrimp cocktail as an appetizer – so good. There was a delicious tomato and horseradish sauce with it – definitely the tastiest shrimp we have had in a longtime. Then I had the tagliatelle with fresh shaved Australian truffle. I have to say it was delicious but the truffle is not as tasty as the French truffle which of course is not in season until the autumn – or fall . Bob had rigatoni Bolognese and we shared a desert of ice cream sundae.

It was a lovely dining experience in a beautiful setting and it made a very welcome change.

Great picture including the ice cream sundae

Well that’s all for this week – more tales from our travels next week. And hello to the lovely couple and their two teenagers that we met on the Aztec flight from GHB into FLL – they had been staying in a house at Double Bay that they used to own. We remember Owen’s name but sadly our memories have wiped his wife’s name from our minds. Please when you read this put us out of our misery – was it Donna ? So sorry ….

Stay safe , take care and enjoy the varied experiences that come your way…….

And finally the lovely mussels we ate at Timpano on the first night we got in
