The New Bristol Wines Store and the Island Farm is Closing

News this week that Bristol Wines have opened in their new store and also news that the Island Farm is closing for 2 months…..

Bristol Wines have closed down now at their site on Cupid’s Cay and have reopened in a beautiful new store where Frigates Restaurant was in Governors Harbour. This is also where Hot Buns the bakery was originally.

The shelves of wine are filling up ….

It is a great site because there is plenty of parking there which was often an issue on the Cay. They are still putting the finishing touches to it but they are operational which is the important thing…… They have a lot more storage both in the shop and at the back so do go and take a look. Gloria and her team are doing a really good job and it will not be long before it is running smoothly.

A great hand painted logo done by local artist Mayesha – not sure that’s how you spell it – she works at the bar in Tippy’s.

I am not sure yet what they will do with the lovely big patio area outside the shop but I am sure something good will emerge.

Champagne anyone ?

The Island Farm shop is closing this weekend and I for one will miss the fresh bread baked every Tuesday and Friday as well as the rotisserie chickens on a Wednesday. I have bought a couple of the chickens over the past few weeks and although they are expensive, for me the convenience of it is worth every penny ….. I made a chicken mushroom and leek dish the first night, then a chicken curry at the weekend and the final parts will be used to make a chicken and sweetcorn soup. So 3 good meals from the chicken makes it good value…….

Anne and Tereca at the farm I know are looking forward to a couple of months with no getting up at 3am to bake the bread. We all do enjoy the bread but I know that I for one, could not do that twice a week ! The farm has grown and expanded so much from what we first knew 21 years ago – the freezers are well stocked with the salmon fillets I like , great shrimp and a great selection of meat – which I don’t buy as I don’t eat meat. But I do know that many people rate it very highly….

This was taken 3 days ago and it really looked pretty good – but now it is a real mess again. But it will clear …..

Work is progressing well at the house at Wykee – maybe some pictures next week. It is very exciting to see the transformation taking place for us.

Some of you will be aware that the website was down for a few days – I still have not received an explanation as to why that was. If you tried to get on the site you would have had a message saying that ‘ Your account is suspended ‘. However all should be well for everybody now hopefully ….

Found this picture of me writing my blog ten years ago – yikes …..

Sorry for the disruption …. The team at Shiftweb – the company that run the site for me – always get on the case quickly and resolve the issues – so thanks to them you are seeing this missive !

Enjoy Labor Day weekend if you are in the US and enjoy a great weekend if you are not ….. Take care and remember to be grateful for the fact that you don’t have practically all your local restaurants closing down for a couple of months …..

You can never have too many sunset pictures can you ?

  1. Glad your website issues are resolved 😉
Before you know it, you’ll be telling us about places opening for the season again! Alas, your gourmet cooking skills will come in handy. Bristol’s new location is great. Looking forward to the changes you’ve recently reported on. Sunset pics…yes please.
