Yes dear readers – a bit of this and that this week in the blog. Fortunately we escaped  Hurricane Milton although we have had some rainy , blustery and wild weather.

On Monday this week we had a huge thunderstorm with major lightening , power outage and lots of rain. the power was out throughout the whole day – not being restored until early evening. It was a public holiday – National Heroes Day – so everyone was mostly at home just trying to get by.

Rough seas in the harbour this week

We decided to have a takeout from Sunset Inn that evening – of course grouper fingers and fries with coleslaw was our go to comfort food – and it was great . Lucky that they cook with gas at Sunset – and it was shortly after I collected it that the power came back on.

Tuesday night is Thai Curry night at Pascal’s Restaurant so we decided to give it a go ….. I checked that we could get it for takeout as well, and we could, so off I went. Many of you will know that the road at Sky Beach – which is where Pascal’s place is – is in a pretty bad state of repair and after the major rainstorm the day before it was pretty awful. As long as you drive very carefully and slowly it is okay – but you would not want to risk it in a low slung car. We had a shrimp curry and a chicken one as well along with jasmine rice and garlic naan. The shrimp one was particularly tasty – the chicken was good but it was hotter and sometimes that means that you lose some of the more delicate flavors. This is going to be a regular thing that Pascal does so do give it a try – the phone number to call and order in advance is 242 359 7755. Always good when someone tries something different – thanks Pascal…..

Our swimming pool is just about spilling over the top with all the rain we have had – but the temperature is still very comfortable. I did go in the other day and do a few lengths and was pleasantly surprised – no cold water swimming here for a while !

Full to the very brim….

I am sure some of you must do Wordle on a regular basis – I do – so I was thrilled when I got the puzzle on the first attempt ! It is the second time I have achieved this and although it simply the luck of the draw you can’t help feeling inordinately pleased with yourself – took a picture to show you – how sad is that !!!!

The food stores have been pretty empty as the boat from Ft Lauderdale was cancelled last week and little came from Nassau after the delay because of the holiday – so time to raid the freezer and think creatively – now you know why we had takeout 2 nights running …….

Sending love and best wishes to Kathy and Ray and family up in Rhode Island – having a tough time at the moment. We think and talk of you often xx

And the fun is about to start ……

Have a good weekend and see you all next week.

Finally – Brian has a new perch from which to survey her kingdom

  1. Love those bougainvilleas.
Lucky that full fury of Milton was not heaped on Eleuthera. Sigh of relief!

On dealing with weather, our sliding door system is due for replacement. I remember your impressive door assembly cleverly concealing fantom screens which are in our case conspicuous, not exactly attractive, and not working properly. Agh! Might you remind me of the manufacturer? The required frame size may not work in our case but I’d like to investigate. Many many thanks.

Yes – I thought a shot of the bougainvillea from the summer would be a cheerful start to the blog !
Our doors and screens are through a company called Lanai Doors- they are based in California. Their contact number is 1 866 907 3667 – Carol Jarvis is the office manager……
