Yes – it is great news that our restaurants are now opening back up in Eleuthera.
People are just beginning to return to the island and it is lovely to see familiar faces again…..
La Bougainvillea is open now – Bob and I went for lunch on Sunday to show our support and although it was quiet it was good to see the staff happy and giving great service. Amazingly it is nearly eight years since they opened – where does the time go.
Tippy’s reopened at the end of last week and we went one evening this week to enjoy a shared pizza and salad. Quiet when we first went in by plenty of people came in while we were enjoying our food.
Of course the Island Farm is also open again after their break – bread will start the week before Thanksgiving as usual and their rotisserie chickens will also be available from that week on Wednesdays. Bread will be available on Tuesdays and Fridays and I for one will be so happy to be able to pick up a lovely warm loaf for sandwiches at lunchtime. Plus I always keep a couple of loaves in the freezer which is very helpful. They have a good selection of salad dressings, marinades , dipping oils as well as some lovely freshly baked quiches on the day I visited. Great salad greens and plenty of other produce. It is a joy to see how they have expanded and increased the range of goods and produce on offer…..
The Potlatch Club is already open as I have previously reported and The Cove reopens for business on November 4th.
It will be lovely to have all these options again – it is always a bit of a barren time in September and October on island…..
On a different note we have finally furnished and equipped the one bedroom house at Sprawling Towers. It is very sweet and I am happy it is finally done. Now on to the studio – it has the best view of anywhere here on our patch so of course I want to make the most of that.
The weather – which I know plenty of you are interested in has still been very windy and blustery so no dipping in the Atlantic when we walk the dogs in the afternoon. I am pleased to tell you I have swum a couple of times in the last week in our pool – not exactly cold water swimming – but enough to make you gasp when you first go in and a good incentive to just keep on swimming !
It will be Halloween when most of you read this – I am prepared for a few young visitors although no dressing up for me this year ….. We had a lot of fun over the years when we lived at Buena Vista and Bob was keen to have a few things to decorate the house – a talking pirate, an inflatable ghoul and a hideous big spider that would frighten all the little ones – but we are over that now and pass the baton on to someone else !!
Have a great weekend , take care of yourselves and be kind wherever you see the opportunity.

Good morning Kathy, It makes my heart sing to read your blog. Thank you so much. Your home is beautiful and that sunset is glorious. Have a scary Halloween. ❤️
Hello Mary – that is actually a sunrise from our veranda ! So happy that you continue to read the blog and enjoy it …. Much love x
While your news always makes us feel like we are there savouring sunsets, scenery and great food, seeing Bob’s outreached hand holding yours carries to us the warmth of your happy hearts.
Tonight will be trick o treating with our 4 year old grandaughter. In our old home I used to crank up the sound system because we lived on a 3-house cul de sac: Ghostbusters and the cries of a cackling witch and her shrieking « How nice to have you for dinner » LOL worked like a magnet. I hope kids will have oodles of fun tonight. Gros bisous to Bob and you.
Have fun trick or treating tonight ! Thank you for your kind comments ….
You both look lovely Xxx
You are very kind !! xxx
Hello Kathy,
several years ago we were guests in Peach House and would really like to visit Eleuthera again one day. For this reason I would like to know if that one bedroom house is just private or if it’s possible to rent it.
All the best and greetings from Germany
from Sonja + Thorsten
How lovely to hear from you Sonja – here is a link to Governors Harbour Collection – this is a lot of our previous properties now managed by the wonderful Joy and Dominic. You will be able to click on one bedroom properties and see Peach House is there ! But there are some other one bedrooms available as well nearby. Do message me if you do decide to come over – it would be lovely to say hello …..
