The week after Jane leaves is always a hard one for me. But this time we had a holiday weekend. Friday was Randol Fawkes Labor Day and Monday was Whit Monday – so having a different routine was very helpful. Bob and I had a very restful long weekend and it was a great tonic.

On Saturday I went as usual to Monique Carroll’s yoga / Qi Gong class at the Levy Preserve. There are enough on island regulars to keep the class going and it is so nice to see friends every week and catch up before the class. Monique always varies the class and keeps it all very fresh which is not easy to do. I remember from my days of teaching aerobics classes back in the day how hard it was to come up with new routines. I must admit it was easier when I used to teach the children with learning difficulties yoga at the Centre for Exceptional Learners to vary the class.

But I digress and want to say a big thank you to Monique and the class attendees for combining together to make a very enjoyable start to any weekend……

Jane and I are back to daily FaceTime calls which go a long way to keeping us in contact.

Well the rainfall was short-lived – nothing since the two days of rain we had last week – so again we are back to doing the raindance in hopes of getting some more.

The poincianas are in bloom now – always a glorious sight and we have discovered one here at Sprawling Towers that has only become visible through clearing some of the lot. We also have a bloom on the frangipani which we brought here as a cutting from Buena Vista. Rewarding to see that doing well…..

Not the most glorious blooms – but thrilled that it has taken and is flowering at all….
The plant is doing well….

We had a lovely meal last week at The Potlatch Club before Jane went home, with Dan and Larry. We usually go there for lunch so it was a nice change to be there at night. We enjoyed Dan and Larry’s company before they left at the weekend to go off to the land of plenty where they will be for 10 days. I am looking forward to hearing tales of delicious and different food that they enjoy over there.

Seafood risotto – which I had was delicious….
Chicken with creamy tagliatelle and a parmesan crisp….
Dan had the ribs….

Well – not much happening here at the moment – but we are looking forward to Carol and Keith coming over for a few weeks. You may remember that Carol broke her hip at the beginning of March and had to have a hip replacement. Well she has had a lot of rehab for it and it will be good to see her walking about again.

Jane in the pool while she was here…. getting those lengths in !
And finally the deserts – creme brûlée ….
Tiramisu with coffee ice-cream

And so dear readers – that’s it for now. Have a good weekend and see you all next week.
