Yoga at the Levy Preserve and more ……

The yoga classes at the Levy Preserve are still going strong at the moment. Monique Carroll is a wonderful teacher – she makes the classes fun as well as effective. Of course people are leaving the island if they are winter residents so it will not be too many more weeks I think before the classes cease.  The pavilion at the Preserve is a beautiful setting for the class – we have shade but are in the open air – it is perfect.

This picture was taken on Easter weekend – you may have guessed that from the masks !

Monique is also a Reiki master and I want to book a couple of sessions with her for reiki healing. I have a shoulder injury that affects both my elbow and wrist as well obviously the shoulder and I hope that a treatment along with treatment from Kim Young in Tarpum Bay will help with it all. Of course finding the balance between not aggravating it with too much exercise and it gradually deteriorating because of age is a fine one – but it is about how it feels all over and yoga definitely makes me feel better – both mentally and physically.

For those of you who are not familiar with Reiki treatments it is a healing method that works through the person who is giving the treatment channelling universal healing energy – and the recipient draws in the energy to where it is needed most.

I had the amazing experience of actually being cured of migraine over 35 years ago by a Reiki master in the UK. Although I will always be prone to headaches – a migraine is a very different experience. They were totally debilitating on a very regular basis – vomiting , intense light sensitivity as well as the excruciating pain. From the very first treatment I never have experienced one again – so you can see why I have always been a Reiki convert. Of course I will keep you posted once I have had some sessions.

Enjoying the yoga practices and the camaraderie of the fellow students is something I really am grateful for. I often say that life on this island makes you grateful for what you have even though none of it lasts for ever. The sessions will end soon and then we will all look forward to them all next year.

Many of us are feeling anticipatory gratitude for when Eleuthera Markets opens it’s doors sometime in May. I am not aware of a date yet – but it will be a delight to be able to enjoy a new food market in Governors Harbour. The sign is up outside and there have been endless boxes of stock going into the store – can’t be too much longer surely ?

As I told you last week my sister Jane is here now for six glorious weeks ! What I really love is the joy in the simpleness of being together everyday. Nothing earth shattering or spectacular to do – just being together – enjoying cooking together and laughing together – and maybe we should be dancing together while we are cooking ….. I need some practice dancing that is for sure !

We walk Rudge together on the beach and that is a real treat. The beach is not looking it’s best at the moment – there is a lot of seaweed scattered about because of rough seas but it will clean itself soon – high tides come and wash it all away.

Then it will look like this again …..

Jane and I gave each other haircuts last weekend – we were both trained as hairdressers – yet another thing to be grateful for ….. The joys of sisters xx

And so dear readers on we go into May – have a lovely weekend and find those gentle pleasures in everyday life , then give thanks for them……

And our plume continues to bloom and attract plenty of bees and hummingbirds.

And of course another beautiful sunrise …
