Hello dear readers – news this week of a 4 day trip by the Glo Good Foundation into Gregory Town giving their 8th free dental clinic.
I didn’t manage to make it up to see them in Gregory Town but I did speak with the lovely Stacey Levine – wife of the dentist Dr Jonathan Levine . She told me that they saw and treated one thousand patients on this visit – including 500 children in various schools that they actually went to.
The Let Love Rule organization – headed up as I have told you before by Lenny Kravitz – partners with the Glo Good Foundation to bring the dental services to Gregory Town – of course people from all over the island come to GT to be helped and treated with spectacular results.
We are incredibly lucky here in Eleuthera that Lenny started this initiative with his own personal dentist Dr Jonathan Levine – it serves the people here extremely well and the amazing news is that the team will be back in April of this year for more free dental treatment.
I will let you know as soon as I hear of an actual date.
This initiative takes an incredible amount of planning, co-ordination and of course money. Here is a link where you can make a donation towards future clinics – Glo Good Foundation
Also here is a link to a blog I wrote back in January 2020 which gives plenty of details about what goes on …..
Back here on island the season is getting busier and we had a good time last Thursday when our good friends Justin and Lindy invited us to a tasting at The Potlatch Club of the food they are having for an evening wedding party in early April. It was delicious and all the right decisions were made !
On Saturday I went along to a yoga class held at the Levy Preserve – in the outdoor but sheltered pavilion. The class is run by Monique Carroll who is a great yoga teacher and a lovely woman. This was the second week she has done it and the numbers are building up. You need to take your own yoga mat – although I am going to donate some that I have that I don’t need. The class costs $15 plus the entry fee for the Levy Preserve – that is $11 or you can join the Bahamas National Trust as a member for $30 for the year. If you are a senior like me then the annual fee is $20 – bargain !
Although I am doing a short regular yoga practice at home it is a real treat to go to a class and be instructed. I am taking it very easy as in all honesty I haven’t done a regular practice since lockdown and that is nearly 5 years ago – it is shocking to realize it is that long – but by taking it gently and being kind to my body I know that I will gradually get back in the swing. My years of ego yoga – as I call it – are long gone. I don’t need to be able to do what I used to but I do want to feel more stretchy and limber . It is all about how we feel and not worrying about how we look….
Finally last Sunday we had a run up to Hatchet Bay to meet friends for lunch at The Front Porch. It is a while since we were there last so it was a nice treat to enjoy the food cooked by Francis and served by his lovely wife Gina.
Okay friends – have a lovely weekend and take care of yourselves. Next week we will still be in January – I know that there are only 31 days in January so why does it feel that there are at least 65 days ?????
