Located on a beutiful island, Sweet Corn House is exactly what the pictures show, a wonderfully designed, light and airy, modern plantation-style compound that is a joy to live in and experience. It is exceptionally clean, well-designed, with roomy individual bedrooms, a great central room perfect for entertaining and meals/TV / reading. The kitchen had everything one could want as in your own home, and all the applicances worked as one would expect.
A word must be spoken about the master suite, an incredibly welcoming, well-viewed, fresh room taking up the entire second floor of the house. The breezes, morning sunlight, afternnon sunsets made it so easy to forget about work and really know you were on vacation.
The grounds were perfectly sized, with wrap-around verandas encircling the house; a nice-sized pool to the side and ample parking for all of your guests. Sufficient chairs, towels, beach items, pool items were all available on site. It was actually hard to leave it was so comfortable.
Situated on the top of the hill, central to Governor’s Harbor, it enjoys a view in all directions. The village itself is a five minute walk down the hill, and should be explored at least once. Going down the other Atlantic side toward the beautiful French Leave Beach( old Club Med site), probably closer to a ten to fifteen minute walk, which I found a tad more comfortable to drive.
There are limited but sufficient eateries and restaurants in about the island if one is choosing to stay at governor’s Harbour. Some of the ones we ate at several times include: Beach House( try the shrimp dish, good fritters; lots of activity due to its key beach access location; nice bar, several nights really hopping to live music; located 1.2 miles from the house); Tippy’s Bar, 2.0 miles from the house, located just a small distance further down the same Blanks Road, is slightly more upscale restaurant where the food is good, most seats are bug free, music also claims several nights; probably the most upscale near to the property; Sunset Restaurant, just a mile south of town on Queens Highway, offering nice fish dishes, a good steak and nice service; Buccaneer, a close by family bistro (don’t miss the pork/chicken/beef friend rice plate), Sammy’s down south, Leapin Lizard up north.
Bob/Kathy, owners, are wonderful, exceptionally birght Brits who provide the hospitality as if you are long term friends. Together they designed/built this complex. Miss them terrifically !

I did not hesitate to ask questions and he would promptly respond…fabulous! The island is lovely, a bit remote but everyone is so friendly and willing to offer up advice you never feel deserted..so safe, we never locked our doors….Everything was super simple! Thank you so much.

Really lovely house in Governor’s Harbour, with a bright and clean aesthetic and it’s own pool. Walking down to the harbour is easy, and a wonderful pastime especially early morning. Equally, the house is close to French Leave Beach with casual a fun spots like the Beach House, Banks Road Deli and Tippy’s only a two-minute drive away. We found the location and accommodation perfect for our family, and a wonderful centrally located base from which to explore the rest of the island.
